Liquid Ice Sugar-Free is the no-carb extension to the brand whose spokesperson is old-school rapper turned actor, Ice-T. With its translucent light-blue coloring, Liquid Ice isn’t the kind of product that screams “drink me!” when you look at it. But it smells pretty good – a bit like Gatorade – and tastes okay thanks to a sucralose sweetener that’s been administered with admirable restraint. The can mentions “natural flavors” – in addition to berries, we got watermelon with hints of bubble gum – and there’s not too much bitterness from the caffeine, a Red Bull-like 80 mg. If you’re looking for a sugar-free energy drink, you could do worse, but we don’t know why you’d pick it over any other, particularly with packaging that doesn’t work to differentiate it from any of its competitors. The color scheme on the full-calorie Liquid Ice is much more effective, with a strong blue and hints of silver; the reversed silver with bits of blue looks rather generic.
